— Members of the downtown YMCA of Northern Rock County will reap the benefits of a $330,000 renovation project that begins Monday.

J.P. Cullen & Sons will serve as general contractor and Angus Young & Associates will be the architect in charge of the project, which is expected to take eight weeks to complete.

According to a press release issued from YMCA CEO Tom Den Boer, the project will include:

-- A renovation of the men’s and women’s shower areas

-- Upgrades to the men’s and women’s sauna rooms

-- A renovation of the whirlpool area.

The design of the new showers will incorporate state-of-the-art division panels, a new tile design and a user-friendly locker room that includes two more showers.

Renovations to the whirlpool area will double its size and offer more amenities.

“With an increase in membership and facility participants, the board of directors is pleased to be able to enhance the facility and member experience at the downtown YMCA,” Den Boer said.
