Two big innings and the starting pitching of Brady Brandt kept Janesville undefeated in the American Legion Class AAA Region 7 tournament Thursday night at Riverside Park.

Janesville scored five runs in the seventh and four in the eight to defeat the Kenosha Merchants, 9-8.

Janesville plays Beloit at 7:45 p.m. today in a winner's bracket game at Riverside.

Kenosha plays Monroe at 5 p.m. with the loser being eliminated. The loser of the Janesville-Beloit matchup plays the Monroe-Kenosha winner at 11 a.m. Saturday in an elimination game.

Tyler Teubert, Taron Kobs and Kyle Johnson each had three hits to spark Janesville's 12-hit attack Thursday.

Teubert and Kobs each had two stolen bases and Johnson had one.

"We got guys running and moved their defense around," Janesville coach Bob Schenck said. "We put a lot of pressure on them."

Kenosha committed five errors, which helped spark the Janesville offense.

Brandt pitched the first 6 2/3 innings, striking out 2.

"Brady did a great job," said Schenck. "He kept us in the game when we weren't scoring runs."

Janesville went 1-2 against Beloit in the regular season. Beloit was ranked No. 1 among Class AAA teams at the end of the regular season.
