Street Crimes Unit seizes cache of illegal drugs

— A traffic stop Thursday night by the Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit resulted in the arrest of a Janesville man and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs.

Unit members were conducting an investigation into the transportation of illegal drugs into the Fourth Ward neighborhood when they made a traffic stop at the intersection of Center Avenue and Rockport Road.

The stop led to the arrest of Shane S. Turner, 39, of 1702 E. Milwaukee St., Janesville, who was operating a vehicle that contained 41 grams of powder/crack cocaine, 10 grams of marijuana, two grams of heroin, two vicodin pills, one dolophine pill, $182 in cash and drug paraphernalia, according to a department press release.

Turner was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, cocaine and heroin with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of prescription drugs, running a drug vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation, police said.

He remains in custody at the Rock County Jail.
