— City of Janesville assessor Richard Haviza confirmed Friday that about 40 Janesville residents might receive duplicate copies of their property assessments.

The duplications are due to a minor mechanical glitch at United Mailing Services, the company the city hired to conduct the mailing.

Company officials said that paper jams caused up to 41 duplicate assessments to be sent to residents.

Assessments were sent out Monday and should arrive at city homes within the next week.

The city will not be charging for the duplicate mailings.
