— The home crowd had little to cheer about Tuesday in seeing the Janesville American Legion baseball team conclude its home season with a 9-1 loss to Burlington.

Janesville’s chief culprit was six errors that led to eight unearned runs. Janesville has made 11 errors in its last two losses.

“We can’t continue to make

5-6 errors a game and beat anybody,” Janesville coach Bob Schenck said. “Our pitchers are doing a great job, but we give up too many outs.’’

While Janesville was stumbling in the field, it also was shut down at the plate, getting held to one hit and racking up 13 strikeouts.

Janesville (15-11) plays Sun Prairie at Plover at 3 p.m. Thursday.
