Free throws spelled the difference Friday in the boys’ portion of a high school basketball doubleheader at Delavan-Darien.


Union Grove made 21 of 33 attempts from the line, while Delavan-Darien went 3-for-3, as the Broncos raced to a 56-43 victory and kept their share of second place in the Southern Lakes Conference.


Brennan Johnson scored a game-high 16 points for Union Grove (11-5, 6-2). Joe Bianchi added 13, and Matt Wolff chipped in 11.


Dan Supernaw scored 13 points to lead the Comets


(1-15, 0-8). Marcus McLin scored 12, and Justin Fowlkes had 10.

Dustin Schnieder scored 10 of his 14 points in the first half for Waterford (8-6, 6-2). Joe Sturino added 13 points, including two of his three three-point baskets in the first half, for Waterford.


Brendan Gruenwald-Schmitz scored 14 points for Badger (2-12, 2-6) and was the lone Badger in double figures.
