The last-place team shocked the first-place team as Stoughton High upended visiting Monroe in Badger South boys basketball Friday night.


Ben Cleveland scored 10 points in the first quarter as the Vikings outscored the Cheesemakers, 18-6, and went on to a 62-56 victory.


Monroe couldn’t recover, but did get within a point in the fourth quarter. Stoughton responded by stretching the lead back to nine.


Cleveland finished with 21 points. Connor Kowalkowski and Ryan Nyhagen added 11 each, while Cole Brusegar had 10 for the Vikings (4-11, 1-6).


Senior guard Michael Barrett led the Cheesemakers


(12-2, 6-1) with 18 points. Bryan Tordoff added 14, but Monroe fell into a first-place tie with Madison Edgewood.

n Edgewood 47, Milton 33—The visiting Crusaders limited the Red Hawks to nine points combined in the second and third quarters in winning a Badger South game that lifted Edgewood (12-6, 6-1) into a first-place tie.


Junior Austin Arians had 16 points to lead Edgewood, with Brock Pavlik adding 14.


Brandon Ross paced the Red Hawks (5-9, 1-6) with 12 points, and Philip McCarthy added 10.

n Monona Grove 61, Fort Atkinson 45—Zach Zweifel scored 19 points to lead Monona Grove to a Badger South victory over visiting Fort Atkinson.


Max Gehrmann added 12 points, and Matt Welsch had 10 for the Silver Eagles (10-4, 5-2), who rolled to leads of 17-7 after the first quarter and 30-14 at the half.


Dan Kempena scored 15 points, and Tanner Boos added 12 for Fort.
