Lake Geneva Badger won the battle for second place Friday night in Southern Lakes girls basketball.


Badger High had an 11-6 edge in the fourth quarter, and that was enough for a 42-38 victory at Burlington.


Lana Wieseman led the way with 17 points as Badger (9-5) improved to 5-2 in the conference and dropped the Demons (5-8) to 4-3.

n Union Grove 80, Delavan-Darien 50—Union Grove, No. 4 in the AP Division 2 state ratings, stole the show in the opening game of a co-ed doubleheader at Delavan-Darien.


The Broncos put up 48 points in the two middle quarters as they broke open a close game, while going to 7-0 in the Southern Lakes and 13-1 for the season.


Alana Cesarz, the conference scoring leader, had 16 points for Delavan-Darien (7-6, 3-4), and teammate Sarah Miller had 13. Union Grove more than answered that with than five scorers with at least nine points, led by Megan Lee’s 17, Alyssa Thomas’ 14 and Natalie Zanella’s 13.

The Panthers over came a 28-24 halttime deficit with 35-17 advantage in the final two quarters.


Sarah Vozel added 13 points for Wilmot. Sarah Woellert led Elkhorn (6-9, 3-4) with 18.
