— The Janesville Bluebirds had to work overtime for a victory Thursday night.

Cody Stettin got his second goal of the game at 5:46 of the overtime to lift Janesville’s high school co-op team to a 3-2 nonconference win over Hartland Arrowhead at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.

Janesville (12-4-1) led 2-0 in the second, but Arrowhead tied the game with a goal in the second and Will Reiland’s equalizer at 14:28 of the third.

After Janesville took a timeout in overtime, the Bluebirds’ Cody Iverson won the faceoff, Stettin picked up the loose puck and fired a shot past Arrowhead goalie Jake Michael for the game-winner.

“Cody (Stettin) just made a nice play and was able to get a good shot off,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said of the winning goal.

“It was a good win against a much bigger Arrowhead team. (Janesville’s) Brad Money set the tone early for us with a big hit and that carried over. “

Janesville will play at Verona in a Big Eight Conference game Saturday night at 7 o’clock.
