YWCA seeks nominees for Women of Distinction Awards
Women of Distinction and Young Women of Distinction honors are awarded to women and girls who have distinguished themselves through leadership, personal achievement or volunteer work. Nominees have made differences in the lives of people in the Rock County area and serve as role models to other women by distinguishing themselves in business/labor, education, government, community affairs, fine arts and/or health and fitness.
The award recognizes a business or group that has demonstrated responsiveness to the needs of women or has implemented innovative ideas and practices that encourage and enable female workers to develop leadership potential. Nominees may have initiated programs to improve the quality of women's lives in the workplace, addressed the economic and social needs of women, demonstrated a commitment to equity and advancement for women, among other things.
Past nominees can be re-nominated, provided that they were not honored previously. For a list of past recipients, visit ywca.org/rockcounty.
The awards ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, at the Holiday Inn Express & Conference Center, 3100 Wellington Place. Reservations will be available next month. The cost will be $30 for YWCA members, $35 for nonmembers and $20 for students. Sponsorships are also available.
