McCann scores 27, lifts Milton, other scores

Sam McCann proved too tough to handle Tuesday night for Delavan-Darien High School’s boys basketball team.


The Milton junior scored 27 points to lead the Red Hawks to a 56-40 nonconference win over the Comets.


Milton (5-8) led by three at halftime but outscored Delavan-Darien (1-14) by 13 in the second half.


Justin Fowlkes had 14 points to lead the Comets.

-- Lakeside 80, Belleville 28—Jake Jarnigo scored 17 of his 20 points for Lakeside Lutheran in a 32-2 first quarter that put the host Warriors out of reach in a Capitol nonconference crossover boys game against the Wildcats (1-12).


Jeff Kluge and Jon Demcak each had an 11-point game among the 14 scorers for Lakeside (12-1), which leads the Capitol North with a 4-1 record and is No. 10 in the AP Division 3 state ratings.

Trailways South boys

-- Deerfield 68, Williams Bay 57—The visiting Demons made 25 of 35 free-throw attempts to defeat the Bulldogs.


League-leading Deerfield moved to 7-0 in the Trailways South and 8-5 overall. Williams Bay fell to 4-3 and 4-9.


Vince Musa scored a game-high 26 points, and Skylar Schlefke added 18 for Deerfield. Lawrence Clement scored 18 points for Williams Bay, and Tyler Compton added 10.

Indian Trails

The Wisconsin School for the Deaf defeated Norris, 54-35, in Indian Trails Conference high school boys basketball Tuesday in Delavan.


WSD (12-1, 7-1) held Norris to single digits in the middle two quarters.


Jose Castillo scored 14 points for WSD. Teammates Tony Davis and Taylor Koss scored 10 points apiece.
