A fourth-quarter rally carried Monroe High School to a 48-38 victory over determind Elkhorn in nonconference boys basketball Monday.


The visiting Elks (6-8) trailed the Cheesemakers—ranked No. 5 in Division 2—31-29 after three quarters. In the final period, Monroe


(12-1) made eight of 10 free throws down the stretch for a 17-9 advantage to seal the victory.


Michael Barrett scored eight of his 17 points and Bryan Tordoff scored five of his 10 points in the fourth quarter for Monroe, which rebounded from Saturday’s 55-40 loss to unbeaten and now top-ranked Waunakee.


Kyle Hoskins scored 13 points for Elkhorn.
