— Police are investing multiple reports of a group of subjects passing counterfeit $20 bills to businesses along West Court Street, according to the Janesville Police Department.

Police received their first report Jan. 19, Sgt. Aaron Ellis said. That day, fake bills were passed on two occasions at Walgreens Drug Store and once at Taco Bell.

On Thursday, more counterfeit money showed up twice at Sentry and once at Spirits, Ellis said.

In one incident, it was a black male suspect, Ellis, said, but it was a white male suspect in another.

Police are obtaining surveillance video from the businesses as part of their ongoing investigation, he said.
