Thompson sparks Whitewater win

— UW-Whitewater pounded host UW-Platteville with a second-half run for a 69-54 victory in WIAC women’s basketball Wednesday.

The Warhawks had a five-point halftime lead and stretched it to 24 with a 27-8 run to start the second half.


The Warhawks (15-2, 7-1 WIAC), No. 12 in the USA Today/ESPN Division III poll, were led by senior Dana Thompson, who scored a game-high 24 points. In the run, Thompson scored 10 of her 24 points to pace Whitewater.


The Pioneers (5-12, 1-7) were led by junior Ashley Callahan with 13 points and nine rebounds. She was joined in double figures by sophomore Ashley Henry, who added 10 points.
