— Clinton High’s baseball team, the 2010 Rock Valley South champion, has been selected by the Beloit Snappers as the Stateline Team of the Year.

The Cougars will be honored Tuesday night at the Snappers’ seventh annual Hot Stove Banquet, which will feature Hall of Fame star Paul Molitor and former Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan, a Janesville native.

Banquet tickets are $45, and Molitor autograph tickets are $30, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Stateline Boys & Girls Club. Tickets may be purchased at the Snappers’ office, 2301 Skyline Dr. in Beloit. or by calling (608) 362-2272.

The banquet is the Eclipse Center, 1701 Riverside Dr. in Beloit. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a silent auction, social hour and autograph signing. Dinner is set for 7, followed by program at approximately 7:45.

Clinton’s team earned its recognition by going 18-6 overall and 13-3 in the Rock Valley last spring. Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Aaron Roth and senior shortstop Zach Wisowaty were the South Division’s Co-Players of the Year, and Scott Cernek of the Cougars was the Coach of the Year.

Wisowaty now is a member of UW-Milwaukee baseball team. Roth is listed as one of the state’s top high school prospects for the 2011 season.
