UW-Rock County sweeps past UW-Manitowoc, men win

— Lindsey Oliver scored a career-high 31 points to lift short-handed UW-Rock County to a 78-54 victory over UW-Manitowoc in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference women’s basketball Monday.

Oliver made five three-point baskets and eight free throws to fuel her performance. Teammate Sabina Suter-Mitchell added 20 points and Bekah Gibson added a school-record 29 rebounds.


The Rattlers played the entire game with five players after getting hit hard with academic suspensions. Suter-Mitchell, an Orfordville Parkview graduate, is a second-semester pickup.


“She saved our program,” Coach Scott Lee said. “I don’t know what we would have done.’’


UW-Rock (8-2, 9-5) travels to UW-Fond du Lac this Friday.

Men win

Gabe Mitchell scored a career-high 41 points to carry UW-Rock County to a 96-83 victory over UW-Manitowoc in nonconference men’s junior college basketball.


Mitchell, an Edgerton High graduate, made five three-point goals among his 14 baskets. Jordan Conway, a Beloit Turner grad, added 16 points and Jordan Young a Beloit Memorial graduate, chipped in 10 points.


UW-Rock (6-10) travels to UW-Baraboo next week Wednesday.
