— The Janesville Parker High School girls gymnastics team enjoyed a school record-setting peformance Saturday at the Falcon Invitational at Westosha High School.

The Vikings posted a school-record 140.2 team points, surpassing the school mark of 136.475. It is the first time in school girls gymnastics history Parker has posted more than 140 points.

The Burlington/Badger/Wilmot co-op scored 142.425 points for the championship. Franklin had 141.4 for second place and Parker took third. Janesville Craig finished sixth with 138.325 points.

Parker coach Cathy Lehmann gave the Vikings a big pat on the back for their record-setting effort.

“Every one of our gymnasts scores contributed to this,” Lehmann said. “It was truly a team effort.’’

The Vikings posted the top balance beam team score, which Lehmann said was key to the record-setting effort.

“We scored over every team and that was huge,” Lehmann said. “Balance beam is one of those events that can make or break a meet.’’

The Vikings’ Erika Whitson won the floor exercise title (9.475), and finished second on balance beam (9.4) to spark Parker.

“Erika had an outstanding meet,” Lehmann said. “But across the board it was team effort.’’

Craig’s Becky Schneider won the all-around title with a 37.0 effort. Schneider took fifth in the vault (9.3), third in uneven bars (9.25), third in balance beam (9.2) and fifth on floor exercise (9.25).

Sara Ennocenti finished third on vault (9.4). The Cougars had a 36.625 school-record team score on vault.
