McBride, Janesville Jets stop Motor City

— Connor McBride and the Janesville Jets got a pivotal three-game series with the Motor City Metal Jackets off to a good start Thursday night.

McBride had a hat trick and David Jacobson stopped all 25 shots he faced as the Jets shutout the Metal Jackets, 5-0, at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.

With the win, Janesville moved within one point of Motor City for second place in the NAHL’s North Division with 40 points.

Ross Mauermann, the Jets’ leading scorer and a 2009 Janesville Parker graduate, had three assists. Jacobson, also a 2009 Parker graduate, earned his seventh shutout win of the year.

Game two of the three-game series is tonight.

Jets to honor veterans

The Janesville Jets will honor area veterans Saturday night when they host the Motor City Metal Jackets at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.

Any veteran attending the game will be able to purchase a ticket for $5 with a proper military ID.

The game starts at 7 p.m. and will wrap up a three-game NAHL series between Janesville and Motor City.
