Erickson sparks Evansville to win, other scores

Dylan Erickson had a big night in helping deliver a big victory for Evansville High’s boys basketball team.


Erickson, a 6-2 senior, scored 20 points and played a key role in a pivotal third quarter as the Blue Devils broke visiting Edgerton’s six-game win streak with a 52-43 victory Thursday night in the Rock Valley North.


After an 18-18 first half, Erickson hit the Tide with an eight-point third quarter. Adam Stamm drilled a critical three-point goal to complete 18-10 period that gave Evansville a 36-28 lead, and it never got closer than 45-40 the rest of the way.


Casey Moseley backed up Erickson with 10 points for Evansville. Tyler Dobratz and Collin Gregory led Edgerton with 10 apiece.

-- East Troy 66, Jefferson 33—A big second half against visiting Jefferson put East Troy’s two-time defending champions in control of the Rock Valley North.


The Trojans, No. 3 in the AP Division 3 state ratings, pulled away from a 34-24 halftime tie with a 32-9 advantage in the final two quarters to break the first-place tie with the Eagles.


East Troy went to 6-0 in the conference and 9-1 overall, while Jefferson fell to 5-1 and 6-5.


The Trojans got three of their six three-point goals in a 20-4 third quarter that put the game out of reach. Nate Dodge had two of those three-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points.


Tanner Plomb added 15 points to East Troy’s balanced attack. Myles Olsen scored 12, and Marcus Jones had 10. Sam Nevins led Jefferson with nine, all on three-point goals.

Wedel and Ewelt had all but four of McFarland’s points in a 24-9 first half that put the Spartans in command. Wedel finished with 20 points, and Ewelt had 16.


Dawson Miller and Braidon Voss each had 15 points for the Whippets (2-8, 1-5), who collected six three-point goals.

-- Palmyra-Eagle 61, Parkview 51—The Panthers (3-6, 1-5) broke a 51-game Rock Valley losing streak thanks to 16 points from Kevin McGivern.


It was Palmyra-Eagle’s first win in the Rock Valley since defeating Brodhead, 47-43, on Feb. 23, 2007.


McGivern made nine free throws down the stretch, while B.J. Peardon added 10 points for the Panthers.


Parkview’s Kyle Woodworth led all scorers with 24.
