Fowlkes helps Comets win

Delavan-Darien High School’s boys basketball team celebrated the return of Justin Fowlkes with its first victory of the season.


Fowlkes, a 5-9 senior guard, came back from a prolonged football injury and scored 21 points Tuesday night as the Comets edged Whitewater, 46-44, in a nonconference game at the Whitewater Middle School.


After a three-point goal by Fowlkes lifted Delavan-Darien into a 43-43 tie with three minutes left, Raheem Heidelberg hit a three-pointer at the 2:30 mark to give the Comets the lead for good at 46-43.


While Fowlkes led the scoring, Marcus McLin contributed eight assits and four steals to a victory that lifted Delavan-Darien to 1-9.


Dawson Miller and C.J. Nelson paced Whitewater (2-7) with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
