East staggers Memorial

— Madison Memorial won its eighth straight Big Eight Conference boys basketball title Saturday night, but the Spartans will have to share the crown with Beloit Memorial.

Nimrod Hilliard scored 19 points and made six free throws in the last minute of play to lift Madison East to a 62-58 win over Memorial.


Memorial, finished 15-3 in the Big Eight to share the top spot with Beloit, missed 11 free throws in the game.


Jamar Morris led the Spartans (16-6 overall) with 18 points, while Junior Lamomba added 17 and Tre Burnette 16.


Ray Bentley added 12 points for East, which finished the regular season 12-10 overall and 10-8 in the Big Eight.

n Wilmot 71, Badger 51—The Panthers held a 44-24 lead at the half en route to victory in a Southern Lakes regular-season finale.


Chris Nelson scored 18 points to pace Wilmot (5-16, 5-9). Ty Singleton added 15 points and Ken Eterno chipped in 12 for the Panthers. Bill Swanson scored 14 points for Badger and Jacob Growel added 12 points for Badger (3-19, 3-11).
