Whitewater Whippets hang on against Tide

Whitewater High held on for a 40-37 victory over visiting Edgerton in a Rock Valley North boys basketball makeup game Wednesday night.


The Whippets (8-13, 5-10) jumped to a 13-4 first-quarter lead. Edgerton (10-11, 7-8) shook off the slow start and was within 27-22 after three quarters.


Edgerton took a one-point lead in the fourth quarter, but Dawson Miller sank a free throw and made a basket after a steal to put Whitewater in the lead for good.


The Whippets made six of 11 free throws down the stretch to maintain the lead.


Braiden Voss scored 16 points for Whitewater, while Miller added 11. Tyler Dobratz scored 13 and Tyler Oren added 10 for the Crimson Tide.
