Whitewater Whippets survive Chiefs’ rally, other scores

Whitewater High built a 33-10 lead by halftime, then survived a furious rally by visiting Walworth Big Foot for a 49-47 crossover victory in Rock Valley girls basketball Tuesday night.


Big Foot got within 39-31 going into the final quarter, but the rally fell just short.


Julia Shelbourn scored 16 points for the Whippets, who improved to 9-5 in the Rock Valley North and 11-8 overall. Brooke Trewyn added 11.


Courtney Spangler led the Chiefs’ charge with 23 points. Jen Petkoff added 12 for Big Foot (4-11 in the South, 5-16 overall).
