Edgerton earns 1st title, other scores

Edgerton High pounded visiting Turner, 69-43, and clinched the undisputed Rock Valley North girls basketball championship Monday night.


It’s the first conference title in the program’s history.


The Crimson Tide, No. 6 in the AP Division 3 state ratings, improved to 14-0 the conference and 18-1 overall. East Troy is second at 11-3 in the Rock Valley North.


Edgerton built a 21-17 first-quarter lead as Meggie Schmidt scored 12 of her 19 points. Megan Johnson scored eight of her 10 points in the second quarter, sparking the Tide to a 17-5 advantage and a 38-22 halftime lead.


Jennifer Gimmer added 14 points for Edgerton. Megan Grover scored 19 point for Turner.

Brittani Isham scored 11 points for Big Foot (5-15, 4-10) and was the only player on both teams to score in double figures.


Palmyra-Eagle fell to 0-15 and 0-21.

-- Lake Mills 61, Whitewater 56—The L-Cats sank nine three-point baskets to win a close nonconference battle over the Whippets.


Julia Shelbourn scored a game-high 26 points for Whitewater (10-8). Teammate Brooke Trewyn added 11 points.


Courtney Schmidt scored 15 points for Lake Mills (15-4). Teammate Sam Herrington added 14 points, including four three-point baskets, while Briana Dunkleberger posted 10 points.
