Janesville School Board considers contracts
School board members may not see eye to eye on need to approve pay increases at this time.
School Board President Bill Sodemann tells WCLO's Dan Conry Show it's irresponsible to approve a four-year contract, while not knowing how severe the district's budget deficit could be next year. Sodemann warns Governor Walker's state budget proposal could increase the shortfall from $10 million to $15 million dollars.
Board member Kevin Murray disagrees, saying he plans to take each contract as they come, and worrying about what the governor might do in the future, only muddies the water.
The board will consider the contract for custodians and food service workers Tuesday night.
