Genrich sets Warhawk swim mark

— UW-Whitewater’s men’s and women’s swim teams each finished fourth Saturday at the three-day WIAC swim and dive championships at the Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.

The Warhawk women registered a school-high 441.50 points. Stevens Point won the meet with 839 points. La Crosse was second with 813.5, Eau Claire third (724), Oshkosh fifth (240) and River Falls sixth (185).


The Warhawk men scored a school-high 596 points. Stevens Point won the meet title with 945 points. Eau Claire finished second with 639, La Crosse third with 622, and Oshkosh and River Falls followed with 301 and 163 respectively.


Whitewater sophomore Marcus Genrich, a Janesville Parker High graduate, notched sixth-place finish Friday in the 100 backstroke in 59.42. Genrich broke his school record in the prelims with a time of 59.34.


Genrich also finish fifth Saturday in the 200 breaststroke and established a season best in the preliminaries with a time of 2:09.30. Fort Atkinson’s Nick Kehoe earned a team season-best with 264.9 points in the three meter dive.
