Demos breaks own hurdle mark

— UW-Whitewater sophomore Shelby Demos, a Janesville Parker High School graduate, broke her school record in the 55 hurdles Saturday at the Eastbay Invitational at UW-Stevens Point.

Demos finished second in the 55 hurdles in 8.44 seconds, slicing tenths of a second off her previous mark of 8.52 set last year. Demos finished second in the high jump with a mark for 5 feet, 3.75 inches. Teammate JoLyn Owen (Middleton/Middleton), the won the high jump with a 5-5.75 mark.

Whitewater senior Sara Poppe won the long jump with a leap of 17-7.75 and the triple jump in 35-10.75.
