Whitewater High rode a big first half to 59-46 victory at Williams Bay in nonconference boys basketball Tuesday night.


Dakota Walters scored eight of his 11 points in an 18-9 second quarter that lifted the Whippets (6-12) to a 35-21 halftime lead, setting up their fourth win in five games.


Lawrence Crement, a 6-1 junior, had a 23-point game for Williams Bay (6-13), but the Bulldogs got no closer than nine points in the second half.


Braidon Voss shared Whitewater’s scoring honors in matching Walters’ 11-point game. The Whippets had 10 players score.

-- Lakeside 65, Jefferson 38—Jefferson jumped off to a 6-0 lead, but the rest of the night belonged to visiting Lakeside Lutheran (18-1) in a nonconference victory for the state’s seventh-ranked Division 3 team.


Craig Wilke ignited the Warriors with a pair of three-point goals, and they led 17-9 after the first quarter. Jake Jarnigo had 10 of his 15 points for Lakeside in a 20-9 second quarter that made it 37-18 at halftime.


Wilke also finished with 15 points, while Esau Ramirez led Jefferson (8-11) with 10.

-- Palmyra-Eagle 66, Columbus 58—Kevin McGivern went 11-of-11 from the free-throw line in the final quarter to help Palmyra-Eagle hold off visiting Columbus in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night.


McGivern scored 13 of the Panthers’ 21 fourth-quarter points and finished with 27. Dan Meyer added a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter to finish with 12. Palmyra-Eagle improved to 6-14.


Bryant Baker and Zach Parpart each had 15 for the Cardinals (6-13).

Kyle Woodworth led the Vikings (1-16) with 19 points. Jameson Lavery added 14.
