Spartans win, gain first-place tie

— Madison Memorial High School had five players score in double figures en route to an 86-60 victory over Madison West in Big Eight Conference boys basketball Tuesday.

The victory lifts Memorial into a first-place tie in the Big Eight with Beloit Memorial with each at 14-2. Memorial is 15-5 overall.


Tre’ Burnette scored 17 points to lead the Spartans. Brendan Ortiz, Junior Lomomba and Miles Chamberlain added 14 points apiece, and Jamar Morris chipped in 10 for Memorial.


Chris Bester scored a game-high 18 points and Kwame Latimer added 16 points for West (3-17, 3-13).
