Brodhead hangs on to win, other scores

Rock Valley South leader Brodhead survived a scare at Big Foot, but came away with a 54-49 victory in girls basketball action Tuesday night.


Standout sophomore guard Taylor Douglas scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half when the Cardinals (9-3 in the Rock Valley, 11-7 overall) built a 32-21 lead. The Chiefs battled back and had a chance to tie in the final minutes, but Brodhead freshman Carly Mohns hit all four free throws down the stretch to help the Chiefs hold on.


Mohns finished with 13 points.


Senior Courtney Spangler led the Chiefs (3-9, 4-14) with 22 points. Sophomore Jen Petkoff added 12.

-- Parkview 56, Clinton 38—Stephanie Aasen led a strong fourth-quarter rush for Orfordville Parkview, scoring 10 of her team’s 23 points as the Vikings pulled away from host Clinton.


Aasen made eight of 10 free throws and added a field goal to finish with a game-high 22 points. Parkview (7-6 in the Rock Valley, 7-11 overall) entered the fourth quarter with a 33-27 lead. Jenna Larsen scored all eight of her points in the fourth.


Megan Lantz led the Cougars (4-9, 8-11) with 10 points.

Sophomore guard Rachel Atchison led the Trojans (11-2 in the RVC, 16-2 overall) with 14 points. Brooke Lambrechts added 11, and Breanna Gaspervich added 10.


Kim Beggs led the Blue Devils (2-11, 2-17) with 12 points.
