Boy Scout takes donations for Eagle Scout project

— Boy Scout Devin D. Howard, 17, of United Auto Workers Hall Troop 595, will have collection barrels placed throughout Janesville from Wednesday, Feb. 16, to Wednesday, Feb. 23, as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Devin, a Parker High School senior and son of Rochelle and Dale Howard, Janesville, is asking for these types of donations to be dropped into the barrels during the next week:

-- Clothing of all sizes that is gently used and not in need of repair.

-- Shoes in good condition but no high heels.

-- Baby items such as diapers and wipes.

-- Toiletries.

-- Small appliances.

-- Bedding of all sizes, including sheets, blankets and sleeping bags.

-- Household items such as towels, washcloths, cleaning supplies and tools.

Collection barrels will be placed at:

-- All Janesville Walgreen Drug Stores, 2519 Kettering St., 1717 Milton Ave., 1740 Center Ave. and 1933 W. Court St.

-- True Value, 1516 Center Ave.

-- Pick 'n Save, 1717 Center Ave.

-- Sentry, 2501 W. Court St.

-- Janesville Athletic Club, 1301 Black Bridge Road.

-- Riverfront Athletic Club, 15 W. Milwaukee St.

Donations will benefit A-OK!—Acts of Kindness—1212 S. Oakhill Ave., Janesville. Founder Shelly Danks works closely with the YWCA and House of Mercy to help meet the needs of homeless people. A-OK! also has a truck to pick up larger donations—furniture and appliances—that won't fit into the collection barrels. For pick up call (608) 728-0841.
