Monroe eases into first place

The battle for first place in Badger South Conference boys basketball was all Monroe Cheesemakers on Thursday night.


Monroe High opened up a double-digit lead early in the second half in pulling away for a 62-52 win over visiting Madison Edgewood.


Michael Barrett had 22 points to lead Monroe (14-3, 7-2), which moved into first place by one-half game over idle Monona Grove. Edgewood (13-5, 6-3) fell one game behind the Cheesemakers.


Andrew Armstrong and Bryan Tordoff added 12 and 11 points each for Monroe, while Austin Arians and Spencer Brink had 13 points each for the Crusaders.

-- Stoughton 70, Milton 55—The Vikings jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first half and cruised to a Badger South over visiting Milton.


Conner Kowalkowski and Ryan Nyhagen each scored 17 points for Stoughton (6-11, 2-6).


Sam McCann led Milton (7-10, 2-7) with 17 points.
