Badger women go long in win over Northwestern

— The University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team sank 10 three-pointers in its 62-41 defeat of Northwestern at the Kohl Center on Thursday.

Senior guard Alyssa Karel led the Badgers (14-10, 9-3 Big Ten) with 19 points. Lin Zastrow added 17 points, making all six of her shots in the second half.


Taylor Wurtz helped out with 13 points, collecting her fifth straight double-digit scoring game.


Wisconsin moved into a tie with Penn State for second place in the conference. The teams are a half-game behind Michigan State.


The Badgers have made 10 three-pointers in three games this season. The school record is 11 threes in a game.


Over its last four games, UW is shooting 34 of 74 from beyond the arc.
