Janesville Craig gymnasts closes out Big Eight season with win

— Janesville Craig High School girls gymnastics team defeated the Madison East/Madison La Follette co-op, 140.325-118.575, to close out the Big Eight Conference regular season Wednesday at Craig.

The Cougars finish 6-1 in Big Eight duals.

Becky Schneider, a junior, won all four events and the all-around. In fact, the Cougars swept the first four places in all four events except in the floor exercise where there was a tie for fourth place.

“We finished .025 points off school record,” Craig coach Jean Welch said. “We polished things up. It was good meet to do that to get ready for the tournaments.’’

Craig travels to the Mukwonago Invitational on Saturday and the Big Eight Conference meet at Janesville Parker on Saturday, Feb. 19.
