The Janesville Bluebirds were fit to be tied Saturday afternoon.

Despite nine shots on goal in overtime, Janesville’s high school co-op hockey team skated to a 3-3 nonconference tie with Fond du Lac.

Janesville (12-5-2) trailed 3-2 late in the game before Cody Stettin forced overtime with a goal at 13:58 of the third.

The Bluebirds hit the pipe twice in overtime but could not convert.

“We talked about finishing coming into today, and although we’re getting better, we didn’t get the win,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “The opportunities were there for us, but as has been the case in a few games this season, we couldn’t finish.”

Stettin scored twice for the Bluebirds, while Tom Lindgren got the other goal.

Janesville will play at Madison Memorial in a Big Eight Conference makeup game Monday night.
