When the game was on the line, Milton High’s boys put the basketball where the Red Hawks needed it to go.


Milton made 14 of 16 free throws in an 18-13 fourth quarter Friday night that lifted the Red Hawks to 48-41 victory over visiting Fort Atkinson.


Blandon Ross, a 5-8 junior guard, made six of eight attempts from the line during that stretch as Milton avenged a 57-31 loss to Fort Atkinson in the Badger South. Torger Johnson, another Milton junior, also was 4-for-4 on free throws in the final period.


The Red Hawks led 21-19 at halftime and 30-28 after three quarters, then maintained their edge throughout the final period.


Eight players contributed to Milton’s scoring, with Ross, Sam McCann and Luke Ganz getting eight points apiece. Fort Atkinson sophomore Tanner Boos was the game leader with 14.

The teams were tied 34-34 after three quarters.


Monroe feel to 6-2 in the Badger South and into a three-way tie with Madison Edgewood and Monona Grove for the division lead.


Evan Ackers scored 17 points and teamamte Adam Gorman scored 16 for the Panthers (11-5, 4-3). The Panthers made 13 free throws to the Cheesemakers’ four.


Bryan Tordoff scored 20 points and Michael Barrett added 10 for Monroe.

n Monona Grove 50, Edgewood 47—Zach Zweifel scored 23 points, and Monona Grove handed the Crusaders their second conference loss of the season and moved into a first-place tie in the Badger South.


Zweifel had 12 points in the first quarter when the Silver Eagles (12-4, 6-2) took a 20-6 lead. Max Gehrmann added 10 points in the game.


Brock Pavlik had 14 points, and Austin Arians added 12 for the Crusaders (12-4, 6-2).
