Janesville Parker’s gymnastics team is the Big Eight Conference champion.

The Vikings concluded an unbeaten dual meet season with a 136.875-123.625 victory over Sun Prairie on Thursday night.

Parker, which is ranked second in the state in Division 1, captured its first Big Eight title.

“I’m so proud of the girls and what they’ve accomplished thus far this season,” Parker coach Cathy Lehmann said. “Our scores have been consistent, and to go 7-0 overall in dual meets is pretty impressive.

“Tonight, the girls hadn’t practiced since Monday, so they came in kind of cold as far as being able to work on routines. But it worked out exactly like we had hoped.”

Erika Whitson won the floor exercise for the Vikings, while freshman Haley Leisten won on balance beam.

Parker is off unti it host the Big Eight Conference Meet on Feb. 19.
