La Crosse teams sweep Whitewater Warhawks

— Tony Mane was a one-man wrecking crew for the UW-La Crosse men’s basketball team Thursday night.

Mane scored 35 points, and the Eagles opened up a 22-point lead in the first half en route to a 81-65 WIAC win over visiting UW-Whitewater.


The Warhawks (13-7, 6-5) got 21 points from Madison East graduate Chris Davis, but misfired on 20 of 24 three-point attempts.


La Crosse (11-10, 6-6) led by 16 at halftime and allowed Whitewater to get no closer than 11 in the second half.


Mane hit seven three-points shots in scoring a career-high 35.


Elkhorn High graduate Eric Bryson had six points for Whitewater, while Lake Geneva Badger’s Braden Tice had three for La Crosse.
