Glynn helps Warhawks down Concordia
Steff Glynn rescued UW-Whitewater's women's basketball team Thursday.
The junior center blocked the game-tying shot with seven seconds left, rebounded a missed free throw on the defensive end with four seconds left, and hit a pair of free throws with two seconds left to seal a 64-61 win for Whitewater over previously unbeaten Concordia University (Texas).
Whitewater led 39-25 early in the second half, holding the Tornados scoreless for 4:39. But Concordia made it an entirely different game with a 14-3 streak that closed the lead to 42-39 on a three-point play by sophomore forward Tremeka Canada with 10:42 left. Whitewater never lost the lead the rest of the way, but the margin was never more than four points.
Sophomore guard Katie Burton led Whitewater with 15 points, hitting 7-of-11 from the field while totaling her season high. Senior forward Chantel Burg added 11 points and a team-best four steals.
Whitewater (7-4) plays East Texas Baptist University today in Austin.
