— The Janesville Bluebirds worked overtime for a win Wednesday.

Bradan Perkins stuffed in a rebound shot with 31 seconds left in overtime to give Janesville a 6-5 win over Milwaukee University School at the Waukesha Holiday Tournament.

Janesville (7-4) trailed by two goals twice in the game but battled back both times.

"This was probably our best overall effort of the season," Janesville coach John Mauermann said. "We got contributions from a lot of kids, especially D.J. Mussey, who had his best game of the year.

"We played really well in the third period and it carried over into the overtime. Hopefully, it will also carry over to the second-half of the season."

Perkins gave Janesville a 5-4 lead with a shorthanded goal at 8:58 of the third, but University School tied the game at 12:10.

Dan Addie fired a shot at University School goalie Brian Boecher late in the overtime, and when Boecher couldn't control the rebound, Perkins poked in the puck for the game-winner.

Janesville wraps up the three-day tournament today.
