JANESVILLE A Beloit man is in custody after police say he robbed women in the restrooms of two Janesville fast food restaurants this week, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
Michael D. Cunningham, 29, of 102 Cleveland St., Beloit, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of strong-armed robbery, attempted theft and a probation violation.
Cunningham is accused of taking about $100 from a woman in the female restroom of Taco Bell, 2626 Humes Road, at about 1 p.m. Monday. Police say he did not show a weapon, and the woman was not injured.
At about 10:43 a.m. Tuesday, another woman reported being confronted by a man inside the female restroom at McDonald's, 2922 N. Pontiac Drive. Using information from the victim and witnesses, a description of the robber and his vehicle was given to local law enforcement agencies.
A Rock County sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle matching the description on Highway 51 between Janesville and Beloit. Cunningham was questioned and later arrested.
