— The Janesville Bluebirds co-op boys hockey team delivered 40 shots on goal, but the Waukesha Wings co-op skated away with a 7-3 nonconference victory Tuesday here in the Joe Raymond Tournament.

Janesville is 6-4 overall.

The Wings pulled away, scoring two goals in 37 seconds in the first for a 3-1 lead. Waukesha added two goals in the second for a 5-2 lead.

Clay Simonson, D.J. Mussey and Brett Lessner each scored for the Bluebirds.

“We outshot them 40-26,” Bluebirds coach John Mauermann said. “They made the most of their opportunities.’’

Mauermann said the Wings’ two quick goals in the first period stunned the Bluebirds.

“It was a 1-1 game,” Mauermann said. “They scored twice and it was 3-1.’’
