Janesville Craig’s gymnastics team picked up its first Big Eight Conference win Tuesday with an impressive showing against the Madison East/La Follette co-op team.

The Cougars won all four events, plus the all-around, in rolling past East/La Follette, 136.125-116.325. Craig is 1-1 in the Big Eight.

Ashley McGoey, who missed all of last season with a shoulder injury, won on balance beam and floor exercise. Courtney Pohlman was victorious on the uneven bars and the all-around, while sister, Ashley, won vault.

“We had a pretty decent meet,” Craig coach Jean Welch said. “Ashley has worked really hard in coming back and it shows.

“The Pohlman girls also had good meets, as they really came through for us on vault.”

Parker (0-3) got wins from Leisten on uneven bars and from sophomore Brecklyn Skaleski on floor exercise but slipped up on uneven bars.

“We had an off night on the uneven bars and that hurt us,” Parker coach Cathy Lehmann said. “This was a tough turnaround for us because we had a meet on Thursday, so we only had really one practice day (Friday) to get ready for tonight. You can’t really make many corrections on your routines with one day of practice.

“But we’re making progress as a team.”
