Governor makes stop in Janesville
By 6 p.m., 13 protesters had gathered in front of the Armory, a restaurant/dinner theater at 10 S. High St., some carrying recall-Walker signs.
Ciara Matthews, communications director for Walker's campaign, said the fundraiser was private and closed to the press.
Some protesters jokingly asked patrons entering the Armory to sign recall-Walker petitions. Interactions were polite.
Rumor had it that Rep. Paul Ryan, R-1st District, would attend the event, but a spokesman said Ryan was participating in the House of Representatives' debate about the payroll tax extension, and votes were expected late into the evening.
Walker and his wife were scheduled to light candles this afternoon to signal the start of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
