— Mickey Gilley and Josh Turner will perform at the Rock County 4-H Fair this summer.

Gilley will perform Thursday, July 26, and Turner is scheduled to perform Saturday, July 28.

Tickets go on sale in spring.

Other acts will be announced in the future.

Among Gilley's biggest hits are "Room Full of Roses," "Don't the Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time," and his remake of the soul hit "Stand by Me." Gilley is the cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl McVoy, Jim Gilley and Jimmy Swaggart.

Gilley has been recording albums since releasing his first, "Down the Line," in 1967.

Josh Turner's first album was 2003's "Long Black Train." Its title track was his breakthrough single release.

His No. 1 hits include "Your Man," "Would You Go With Me?" and "Why Don't We Just Dance."

I think using Insane Clown Posse is an extreme example, but point well taken. There are other bands that could attract a well behaved crowd.

This is a good lineup and it will bring in a good crowd. And by good I mean two things: A good number of people and a behaved audience. Not to speak for the Rock County Fair, but I believe they do not want to bring in acts that will draw in a rowdy crowd. If you had a choice of filling the grandstands with orderly people to see a popular country act or filling to the same capacity with Insane Clown Posse, which would you choose?
