Bluebirds post shutout

— The Janesville Bluebirds co-op boys hockey team blanked the Eastside Lakers, 3-0, Thursday in Big Eight Conference play.

The Bluebirds are 3-3 in the Big Eight and 6-3 overall.


Brett Lessner scored on an assist from Clay Simonson at 38 seconds to set the tone for the Bluebirds. Mike Money gave Janesville a 2-0 lead with assists from Dane Tyler and Ethan Eno at 10:37 of the first.


Tanner Woodman closed out Janesville's scoring with a goal at 8:11 of the third period with an assist from Tanner Woodman.


Michael Macdougall stopped 21 shots to post the shutout for Janesville.


"Each period, Michael had a couple of breakaways and he came up big," Janesville coach John Mauermann said.


Mauermann added the Bluebirds got a boost from their third line.


"The third line got the second goal and contributed to Woodman's goal, winning a battle in the corner," Mauermann said.
