— Freshmen Airk Furseth and Chris Reynolds stepped up big time Tuesday night for Janesville Craig’s wrestling team.

Furseth won by decision at 106 pounds, and Reynolds followed with a pin at 113 in his first varsity match to lead the Cougars to a 39-33 Big Eight Conference win over Middleton.

Craig (2-0) also got pins from Anthony Skrede (126), Zak Kurtz (195) and Drew Grassi (220).

“Our two freshmen really came through for us at the lower weights,” Craig coach Mark Mullen said. “Furseth was wrestling a guy that weighed more than 20 pounds than him, and Reynolds got a big pin in his first varsity match.

“Overall, it was a good night because we went on the road in the conference and won.”

Craig will compete in the two-day tournament at West Allis Central on Friday and Saturday.
