Deerfield hands Edgerton first loss, Johnson Creek falls

Deerfield opened the fourth quarter with a surge then fended off an Edgerton rally to down the Crimson Tide, 63-55, in a nonconference girls basketball game Monday night.


The visiting Demons opened up a 14-point lead after entering the fourth quarter with a 42-40 advantage. Edgerton rallied to cut the lead to five, but the Demons held on down the stretch.


Terissa Bierd led the Demons (5-1) with 17 points. Kim Albrecht had 15 and Sara Vande Wetering 11.


Kassie Walters had 19 points, Brooke Ferrell had 14 and Megan Johnson 10 for the Crimson Tide, who suffered their first loss after three wins.

--Williams Bay 72, Johnson Creek 43—Williams Bay outscored visiting Johnson Creek, 45-25, in the first half and cruised to a victory Monday night in Trailways conference action.


Lawrence Clement led Williams Bay with 24 points. Teammate Adam Lechelt added 19 points, including five three-pointers.


Justin Walling led Johnson Creek with 11 points on the night.
