Coroner: Shooting was a suicide
JANESVILLE — A shooting in an apartment complex on Janesville's east side Friday is being considered a suicide, Rock County Coroner Jenifer Keach said.
Janesville police and the coroner's office responded to reports of a shooting at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 3000 block of Midvale Boulevard in Janesville. A wounded woman was transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, where she was pronounced dead.
The coroner's office ordered an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. The nature of the wound was consistent with a suicidal shooting and not consistent with a homicidal or accidental shooting, Keach said.
