Ryan Masterson was not a happy man Tuesday night.

Masterson watched his Janesville Parker boys team get away from both its offense and defense in the second half and fall at home, 71-56, to DeForest in a nonconference boys game.

“I’m very disappointed,” Masterson said. “We were up by one at half, but in the second half, we weren’t on the same page. We had guys not running our stuff as a team, both defensively and offensively.”

The Norskies (3-2) were able to turn a 33-32 deficit at halftime to a 50-44 lead going into the final quarter.

DeForest then took advantage of Parker having to foul in the fourth quarter to build the final 15-point margin. The Norskies made 16 of 22 free throws in the final quarter.

“I told the kids we played 2 ½ quarters of good basketball,” Masterson said.

Andrew Somerville led the Vikings (1-3) with 18 points. Erik Albeck added 13 before fouling out.

Brandon Staffeil, a 6-foot-4 senior forward, led the Norskies with 23 points.

Parker will play back-to-back Big Eight Conference games this weekend. The Vikings are at Beloit on Friday and at East on Saturday.
